The second approach is to contact someone like Performance Distributors who will fully calibrate a new distributor to your exact vehicle requirements by taking into account all of the vehicle’s characteristics. This way you know the advance curve, total degrees of advance and vacuum advance are all optimized for your exact vehicle. Simply install the distributor set the initial timing and you’re done.

9-Drop the distributor back in and use the original reference mark to ensure you are correctly timed and not out a tooth. 10- Install the inner connector first.

No matter which approach is taken, when your total timing is set correctly you will “feel” the difference at every speed from improved bottom end to lower ET’s at the track with the added bonus of improved fuel economy.

11-Next, hook up the 12-volt lead wire followed by the tachometer lead wire. 12- Transfer your plug wires from the old distributor cap, set the ignition timing and connect the vacuum advance line.
