Keeping Your COOL

At first glance there appears to be lots of room to work but as we progress you’ll see it wasn’t the case.
With the coolant drained and the top hose removed the radiator shroud needs to come off next. But as you can see in this picture the fan blade need to come off first.
Remove the 4 nuts and lock washers, then carefully slide the fan assembly forward. When you’re clear of the water pump studs lift the fan and shroud up as an assembly. With the fan and shroud out of the way it’s easy to get to the lower radiator hose clamp.
Always use a line wrench to avoid rounding off the corners of the fitting. The auxiliary oil cooler and lines can remain in place. If you want to paint the radiator support now would be the time.
The new radiator sits down on the original bottom rubber cushion mounts. The fan shroud needs to go in first before you can lower the radiator into place.
