Mopar Wheel Details

"These are the original vintage wheel weights, used from at least 1967 – 1971," says Frank, "with the diamond shape "LH" logo in the center. You'll always know it's an original wheel weight if you see that logo." The number at the right of each weight is how much the weight weighs in ounces. The weight on the left weighs 2.5 ounces, and the weight on the right weighs 1.5 ounces.
| Here is a closeup of the Diamond-LH logo found on original wheel weights. This wheel is an unused original spare. | These are 1969 wheels, likely off of a Hemi car, and they use the large 4 1/2-inch bolt pattern. Note the “H” between the top two holes. |
| Tires are date coded too. Goodyear had its own proprietary date code. For tires made through 1972, the first two characters in the serial number — they could be two letters, or they could be a letter and a number — represent the week and year of manufacture. “A9” is the 30th week of 1970. | Stamped on the inside of the wheel’s rim, and not visible with the tire installed, are a series of codes. “15 x 6 JJ” is the wheel’s size. “JJ” is the code for the wheel’s offset. JH and JK are other codes we’ve seen. To the right of that is the Motor Wheel Corporation logo. We all know what “Made in Canada” means. Meanings of the other markings are not known, and are likely codes. |
